Cake Care
Handling During Travel:
- Always carry the cake by the bottom of the box to avoid touching the sides, which can damage decorations or frosting.
- Keep the cake level during transport, ideally placing it on a flat surface like the car floor or a flat boot.
- Ensure the car's air conditioner is on, especially during warmer months, to keep the cake cool and prevent melting or damage.
Storage Instructions:
- Store the cake in a refrigerator or air-conditioned room to maintain its freshness. Do not remove the cake from its box while in the fridge to prevent exposure to temperature changes and moisture.
- Allow the cake to come to room temperature inside the cake box before serving. In warm or hot weather, this may take 30 minutes to 1 hour; in cooler weather, 1 to 2 hours. Sudden temperature changes can cause the cake to sweat, so avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near sources of heat.
- Before cutting the cake, remove any inedible decorations such as fondant models that may contain supports like toothpicks or wires. Exercise caution to avoid any accidental ingestion of these supports.
By following these guidelines, you'll ensure your cake looks and tastes its best, whether they're on the move or waiting to be served at an event.
